Frequently Asked Questions

A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) is a blank template published by ITI. When an evaluator fills it out with actual test results, the completed document is called an ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report). In federal procurement, both terms are used interchangeably to refer to the completed report.

An ACR should be updated whenever the product undergoes a significant release or when accessibility improvements are made. Many federal agencies require annual updates, and some include ACR currency requirements in their solicitation language.

You can, but self-reported ACRs carry less weight in procurement evaluations than independently prepared reports. Contracting officers who review hundreds of ACRs can identify self-reported documents by their lack of detailed remarks, missing testing methodology, and blanket conformance claims.
